Take it or Leave it News for Tuesday Nov. 11th, 2008

Gotta love Obama. His transition team is looking to overturn at least 200 of George W. Bush's executive orders. I know we're not going to be so lucky to have the 2000 elections overturned. A little late for that. But this might be the next best thing.

Word is that some Gitmo prisoners will eventually be moved to actual courts in the USA. Real trials. Real lawyers. Though this will take time, to me it's better than the idea of indefinite imprisonment with no trials on the horizon.

Change we can believe in, after all. Not just rhetoric.

Many self-described "gun nuts" are buying guns in record numbers since the Obama election, fearing Obama and/or the Democratic congress will figure out a way to take away their toys. Even though, President-Elect Obama - a Constitutional scholar - says that the right to bear arms is, indeed, an American individual right, many appear skeptical.

On a (hopefully) unrelated note: death threats to Obama are on the rise.

During the bitter election campaign, the Alaskan governor had questioned Obama's patriotism and accused him of "palling around with terrorists", citing his links with the sixties radical William Ayers.

Palin's demagogic tone may have unintentionally encouraged white supremacists to plan attacks on the future president of the US.

The Secret Service warned the Obama family last month that they had seen a dramatic surge in threats against the Democratic leader, coinciding with Palin's attacks, the Daily Telegraph newspaper has reported.

As I mentioned earlier, Sarah Palin should know better that words have meaning. She may or may not know Africa is a continent, not a country, but as a Pentecostal she should know about the consequences of words. It's hard for me to imagine someone with her religious background saying such horrible things about another human being without hoping to incite violence.

Gov. Sarah Palin, meanwhile, is hoping God will show her the way to the White House in 2012. Maybe, in the meantime, God can show her (and her fans) the way to an ethics class.
